DEPTH OF EXPERIENCE:

The civil engineering team is comprised of professionals experienced in all aspects of project development including the design of site construction plans, land planning, permitting, project coordination, and construction management. Our employees have prepared the construction plans for many of Northwest Florida’s premier developments. Recently the team has designed the residential master plans for Kelly Plantation, Rocky Bayou, Bluewater Bay, and Swift Creek. In addition, the engineers at GCT are responsible for the design of commercial projects such as Silver Sands Factory Stores, Publix Shopping Center at Kelly Plantation, Winn Dixie Marketplace at Bluewater Bay, The Pearl of Navarre Condominium, Pelican Beach Condominiums, and Cayo Grande Apartment Complexes.

QUALIFIED STAFF:

The engineering staff is led by Jim Barton and Dave Weaver, professional engineers with more than 70 years combined experience, and John Gustin, a project manager with over 35 years experience. The base of our team consists of educated, accomplished, individuals including E.I.T.’s, permitting specialists, engineering CADD technicians, and support personnel. Our engineering staff possesses the necessary depth and knowledge to ensure our clients a quality set of approved plans in a timely and professional manner.

GCT - PROJECT APPROACH:

Gustin, Cothern, & Tucker, Inc. assigns each new project a design team which consists of a project manager, project engineer, AutoCAD technicians, and a permit specialist. With this team approach the critical path of work flow is rarely disrupted.  The project manager is the primary link with the client and assures work flow and deadline requirements. The project engineer provides design, code compliance, required computations, and certification. Drafting is accomplished by AutoCad technicians.  The permit specialist prepares all required documentation and coordinates with the appropriate government agencies. As a rule, our team of professionals practice value engineering. Our engineers are committed to delivering a quality development at an economical cost.

 

GCT - PROJECT WORK PATH:

Whether the project is residential or commercial, our design team will meet with the client and discuss a variety of preliminary layouts. A final site plan will be prepared based on; client request , existing topography, utility provisions, stormwater management requirements, and municipal land development codes. Once the client and engineer have agreed on a site layout, our design team will meet with the municipal planning staff, engineer, and utility companies to obtain preliminary input and approval. Our staff have developed an excellent rapport with governmental officials from surrounding cities and counties. Finally a complete set of construction plans and necessary support documents for project  are prepared and submitted.

The real test of an engineering firm begins when construction commences. Developments designed by GCT are distinguished by the ease in which they transform from paper to reality.

Our project team will prepare, at the client’s request, a line item bid schedule which includes earthwork volumes, area calculations for pavement and base, utility quantities, and miscellaneous items.

Our staff will prepare a construction stakeout plan and coordinate with our survey section to provide accurate construction stakeout for clearing, earthwork, building pads, curb, storm structures, and sanitary sewage system.

Our professional staff is experienced at the inevitable troubleshooting and problem solving that arises during the construction process. The project manager and engineer are readily available for consultation to our clients and contractors throughout the construction process (when you call our office you won't get voice mail). Our engineers will supervise and inspect the construction process from concept to as-built.

 

GCT - WHAT SETS OUR FIRM APART:

Our engineers are experienced in the design of innovative stormwater management facilities including retention basins, detention ponds, exfiltration trenches, and pervious pavers. We are knowledgeable in the design of utility systems including potable water distribution systems, reclaimed water distribution systems, sanitary sewage systems, and lift station sizing. Our construction plans are noted for their meticulous details and specifications.

GCT’s engineers and permitting specialists are very proficient in the preparation of submittal packages to local government entities. As support for our construction plans our engineers will prepare stormwater calculations under criteria mandated by the local and state government entities, stormwater management plans, traffic analyses, and submittal forms. In addition, our permit specialist is adept at preparing permit applications and obtaining approval in a timely manner from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Florida Department of Transportation. Our project manager will attend the technical review committee, planning commission, scenic review board, and county commission meetings on our client ‘s behalf.
